Mitzi G. Gorman, CPCS, CPMSM, Credentialing Specialist and CEO of Credentialing Plus, interim staffing and consulting service based in Knoxville, TN.

Mitzi has 20 plus years of experience working in the healthcare industry starting in behavioral health and then moving into the medical–surgical field. Over the past several years, she has provided interim staffing and consultant coverage to numerous healthcare facilities across the country; serving as an advisor in establishing effective credentialing processes to improve the overall functioning of the medical staff office. She has successfully led many Joint Commission surveys of medical staff services during her career. Mitzi has established effective credentialing processes for networks of ambulatory surgery centers, as well as, hospitals and medical centers’ Medical Staff Offices.

Mitzi has successfully challenged and accomplished both certifications offered by the National Association of Medical Staff Services (NAMSS).

She maintains her certifications by keeping abreast of current credentialing issues through a variety of venues including current publications and programs offered by NAMSS, The Joint Commission, and numerous other professional support programs. She effectively assesses the operational procedures of the Medical Staff Office and adapts easily to the role of liaison between physician leadership and facility administrators.

Mitzi’s professional accomplishments

Including serving on the NAMSS Board of Directors from 2009 through 2011. She has served as Chairman of the NAMSS Education Council and Independent Study Program and played an integral part in the initial movement of the Education Council to develop web-based education programs. She has served as President of the Tennessee Association of Medical Staff Services (TAMSS), President-Elect, and website editor. In 1999, Mitzi was voted “Woman of the Year” by her local chapter of the American Business Women Association (ABWA) in Knoxville.
